HC Deb 04 April 1995 vol 257 c1020W
Mr. Key

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what discussion his department has had with the Department of Transport on extending the powers and jurisdiction of the British Transport police and if he will make a statement. [17470]

Mr. Maclean

[holding answer 3 April 1995]: The Transport Police (Jurisdiction) Act 1994 confines the jurisdiction of the British Transport police to railway property or to railway matters. During the passage of the legislation, an undertaking was given that officials from the Department of Transport and the Home Office would look again at this issue. This is being pursued.
