Mr. Pendry

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what assessment he has made of the effect the outcome of the Bosman v. UEFA et al case in the European Court of Justice will have on association football in Great Britain. [17955]

Mr. Sproat

It is not possible to predict the verdict of the European Court of Justice in this case, and it would therefore be premature to seek to predict the consequences for association football. The Government are monitoring the position closely.

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what submissions his Department presented to the European Court of Justice on behalf of Her Majesty's Government with regard to the case of Bosman v. UEFA et al. [17954]
