HL Deb 31 October 1994 vol 558 c49WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What information they have as to the number of villages destroyed or evacuated during the last 10 years as a result of military operations in the East and South-East of Turkey, and what has been the total displacement of population during that period.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

We have no reliable information on the number of villages evacuated in Turkey in the last 10 years. Estimates range between 1,000 and 1,300. Estimates of the total number of people displaced vary from 900,000 to 1,500,000.
