HC Deb 28 October 1994 vol 248 c866W
Ms Primarolo

To ask the Secretary of State for health what plans she has to tackle the problem of teenage smoking.

Mr. Sackville

The Health Education Authority is currently evaluating the recent five-year teenage smoking campaign. The lessons learned will be incorporated in the preparatory work now being done on a new £12 million three-year national anti-smoking campaign. Particular emphasis will be placed on addressing parents whose smoking habits and attitudes have a vital influence on the smoking behaviour of their children.

The Scientific Committee on Tobacco and Health will consider the whole question of teenage smoking.
