A national survey assessing the extent of psychiatric morbidity in Great Britain is being carried out for the Department of Health by the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys. The results of the first part of the survey, covering the private household population, are due to be published later this year and will provide information both nationally and regionally on the nature and extent of mental illness among adults.
