HL Deb 26 October 1994 vol 558 c39WA
The Countess of Mar

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they can state that no long term damage to human neurological or immune systems can occur after nearly simultaneous administration of plague, anthrax and whooping cough vaccines with pyrodistigmine bromide in view of the fact that there is no relevant published research.

Lord Henley

Details relating to all vaccines giving protection against biological warfare agents are classified. Pyrodistigmine bromide has been used for several decades as a continuous (life long) therapeutic regimen to treat neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis using doses 10 or more times greater than that used in the Nerve Agent Pretreatment Set (NAPS) preparation. No evidence has emerged that pyrodistigmine reacts with any vaccine or combination of vaccines to produce short or long-term neurological or immunological damage. Nor is it unusual for a number of separate vaccines to be administered at the same time or during a short period of time, particularly for short-notice foreign travel.
