To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many(a) men and (b) women are currently members of an occupational pension scheme; and how many men aged 65 to 69 years and women aged 60 to 64 years are currently in receipt of an occupational pension.

The most recent figures available1 show that in 1991 there were 6.8 million male and 3.9 million female active occupational scheme members2. In the same year there were 0.92 million men aged 65 to 69 years and 0.39 million women aged 60 to 64 years in receipt of an occupational pension.
