§ Mr. HarveyTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is his policy towards planting cider apple trees in set-aside areas.
§ Mr. JackThe rules of the Community's arable area payments scheme do not permit the growing of food crops on land set aside under the scheme. Cider apple trees are viewed as a food crop. Crops for non-food use, such as biofuels, are allowed to be grown on set-aside land.
