To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will give the latest figure for the number of(a) men aged 65 years and over and (b) women aged 60 years and over who are receiving a state pension.

At March 1994, the latest date for which figures are available, a total of 3,561,390 men and 6,690,270 women were in receipt of a state retirement pension1.Note 1 "State Retirement Pension" means a contributory retirement pension, a non-contributory retirement pension or graduated retirement benefit.
