HL Deb 20 October 1994 vol 558 c15WA
Lord Williams of Elvel

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is proposed to introduce the Environment Agencies Bill (now published in draft) in the next Session of Parliament, and if so, whether it will be expanded to include provisions for national parks.

Viscount Ullswater

The Secretary of State for the Environment announced on 13th October the publication of draft legislation to set up a new environment agency for England and Wales and a separate agency in Scotland. The published clauses and schedules represent the core legislative provisions relating to the agencies, which will be presented to Parliament at the earliest opportunity as part of an environment bill. I am unable to comment further in advance of the gracious Speech at the opening of the next Session of Parliament.
