To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to the letter POH/3/4368/64 of the hon. Member for Bolton (Mr. Sackville) of 2 August to the hon. Member for Linlithgow, when she hopes to consider in detail the 1991 smog episode; when the report was put to the Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollutants; and if she will make a statement.

Professor Ross Anderson's study should help understanding of the relationship between air pollution and health. The Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollutants has been asked to consider the report of this study, which was carried out for the Department, at its meeting on 21 October.
