To ask the President of the Board of Trade what is his estimate of the effect on UK manufacturing and future of trade of proposed electrical plug and socket harmonisation.

§ Mr. Eggar
No formal proposal has been made. To be prepared for such a proposal, however, the Government commissioned a report by the Building Services Research and Information Association on the "Cost and Benefits in the UK of Plug and Socket Harmonisation in Europe". Copies have been placed in the Libraries of the House.
