To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many individuals over retirement age receive the higher pensioner premium of income support.

Mr. Evans

In November 1993, the latest date for which figures are available, the total number of claimants over retirement age whose income support entitlement included the higher pensioner premium was 768,000.
