Which countries in the European Union have legislation permitting organ donation unless the citizen has registered an objection to such a process, and whether her Majesty's Government will introduce legislation along those lines.
§ Baroness CumberlegeOther countries within the European Union that have legislation permitting the retrieval of organs for transplantation unless the citizen has registered an objection to such a process are: Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain. In Greece, Italy and Spain the system, although permitted by law, is not practised.
The Government have no plans to introduce such a system of organ donation.
