Pursuant to their Written Answer of 19th July (HL Deb, col. WA 25), whether they will list the specific annual costs to United Kingdom taxpayers, including the cost of food, of continued membership of the European Community.

The United Kingdom's net payments to European Community Institutions for the years 1988–89 to 1993–94, together with forecasts for the period 1994–95 to 1996–97 inclusive, are set out in Table 11.1 of the Chancellor of the Exchequer's departmental report (CM 2517, page 92). It is not possible successfully to establish the specific annual cost, or benefit to the taxpayer of the United Kingdom's continued membership of the European Community.
