§ Mr. GapesTo ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will make a statement on the progress towards the entry into force of the chemical weapons convention; and if it remains his policy that the United Kingdom should become an original signatory of the convention.
§ Mr. HeseltineIt remains the Government's policy to ratify the chemical weapons convention as soon as possible. The necessary implementing legislation will be introduced as soon as parliamentary time and other Government legislative priorities permit.
