Ministers are responsible for making the final decision. The then Minister of Health, my right hon. Friend the Member for Peterborough (Dr. Mawhinney), appointed Mr. Keith Jones as chairman of Doncaster district health authority. I made the decision to appoint Mr. Raymond Tonkinson as chairman of the Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Montagu Hospital NHS trust. Details of unsuccessful candidates are confidential.
