HC Deb 29 November 1994 vol 250 c581W
Mr. Rathbone

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of the embargo on trade with Serbia along the Danube; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

On the whole, the operation is effective. Co-operation from the four national Customs services involved—Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary is good. The only persistent difficulty is the control, at certain points on the river, of the cross-bank trade by small boats.
