§ Mr. SteenTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how directive 91/492/EEC is implemented in the Netherlands and in France; and what assessment he has made of the nature of the monitoring of that directive and whether it is as rigorous on the continent as it is in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. JackIt is for the European Commission to keep track of such matters and to assess the effectiveness of any supporting procedures, such as monitoring in this case. We ourselves have little information on the progress of implementation of directive 91/492/EEC in other member states. There is not independent check that we can usefully apply.
