§ Mr. SoamesMy Department continues to encourage training in the United Kingdom by foreign and Commonwealth students as an important element of developing and strengthening relationships and ties with542W friendly nations. During the last financial year, 4,566 students from 98 different countries took part in training in the United Kingdom. The charges for training will depend on the length of the course, its syllabus and the number taking part; although central records are not maintained of the receipts from this activity, they are estimated to be around £39,500,000.
