§ Mr. HoonTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department by how many the number of police officers has increased since 1992.
§ Mr. MacleanBetween August 1992 and August 1994, the latest date for which figures are available, the number of police constables increased by 750. Over the same period, the total numbers of officers fell by 603, reflecting the thinning out of unneeded supervisory ranks.
