To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the current timetable for upgrading the west coast main line.

§ Dr. Mawhinney
The feasibility study for the modernisation of the west coast main line is progressing Well. Railtrack aims to select next year a private sector partner for the main works.
