To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many representations the Welsh Office has received on the review of the hill livestock compensatory allowances in 1994; and if he will make a statement.

I have received representations from individual farmers, industry bodies and Members of Parliament.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what representations the Welsh Office has made to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food on the review of the hill livestock compensatory allowances; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

The review of hill livestock compensatory allowances is conducted jointly by Ministers from all the agriculture Departments having regard to the representations made to them by the farming industry.
