§ Mr. Bowden
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what the increase in inflation for the year to September 1994 would have been if VAT on fuel at 8 per cent. had not been introduced in April.

§ Mr. Nelson
The extension of VAT to domestic fuel and power is estimated to have added just under 0.4 per cent. to the retail prices index since April 1994.
