§ Mr. MacleanThe checks made in respect of criminal records of employees of private security firms contracted to undertake security work on behalf of the Home Office vary according to the requirements of the contract, or the sensitivity of the work. Units will make checks in appropriate cases. Any particular training requirements will be specified in the invitation to tender and checked before award of contract.
§ Dr. Lynne JonesTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his answer of 28 October,Official Report, column 874, what plans he has to introduce regulations to prevent a person with a criminal record from offering security services.
§ Mr. MacleanThere are no present plans to introduce such regulations, but we keep the case for intervention under review.
