HC Deb 03 November 1994 vol 248 c1348W
Sir Michael Neubert

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has to alter the provisions for local representation on police consultative and community groups in London.

Mr. Maclean

Under section 106 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, it is for the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis to make arrangements for obtaining the views of people in the Metropolitan police district about matters concerning the policing of the area. We have issued guidance to the commissioner concerning arrangements for the Metropolitan police district emphasising that consultative groups should be as representative as possible of the local community. We have no present plans to revise that guidance.
