§ Mr. Gwilym JonesYesterday I had the opportunity of passing along the M4 motorway at junction 47. Having spoken to my officials I can assure the hon. Gentleman that there is no lengthwise defect in the newly surfaced inside land of the eastbound carriageway. The present thin layer of material was laid on what was already a sound foundation and has been examined and checked by road engineers.
