§ Mr. HansonTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the current average subsidy paid to farmers in the United Kingdom from all Government and European Economic Community sources.
§ Mr. JackFarmers benefit from direct payments and through other CAP support measures, but these can change over short periods of time due, for example, to exchange rate fluctuations, so no figure which accords with a current average figure is maintained. However, details of public expenditure under the CAP and on national grants and subsidies are contained in table 9.1 of "Agriculture in the United Kingdom 1993", a copy of which is in the Library of the House.
