§ Mr. Blunkett
To ask the Secretary of State for Education what was the expenditure on administration in 1993–94 of the Business and Technology Education Council.

§ Mr. Boswell
The Business and Technology Education Council—BTEC—was established in 1983 to combine and develop the work of the former business education1398W council—BEC—and technician education council—TEC. On 1 October 1993, BTEC ceased to be a non-departmental public body, becoming fully independent. Consequently, its financial arrangements are no longer the responsibility of Secretary of State and now rest with BTEC itself.
