To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many(a) remand arid (b) convicted prisoner were held in police cells in (i) Nottinghamshire and (ii) the east midlands in each month of 1994 to date.

[holding answer 1 November 1994]: Responsibility for this matter has been delegated to the Director General of the Prison Service, who has been asked to arrange for a reply to be given.

To date there have been no prisoners held in police cells in Nottinghamshire or the East Midlands in any month in 1994.
