HL Deb 01 November 1994 vol 558 cc55-6WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What accommodation, and how many flats, exist within the former Westminster Hospital, now vacant and boarded-up; and what plans, long-term and short-term, are being considered for the future of these premises.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health (Baroness Cumberlege)

The former Westminster Hospital includes medical, clinical facilities, offices and residential accommodation comprising 300 hostel rooms.

Westminster City Council approved a redevelopment scheme in February 1994 subject to completion of a Section 106 planning obligation agreement. The scheme is for a mixed residential, office and retail use, together with community facilities. Negotiations on the detail of the Section 106 agreement continue, and when finalised and entered into, the site will be marketed for sale.
