HL Deb 26 May 1994 vol 555 c55WA
The Countess of Mar

asked Her Majesty's Government:

For how long contractors are required to retain records of the date, types, quantity and location of application of any pesticides used in the course of their business under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1988.

Lord Henley

There is no specific requirement in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1988 for contractors to retain records relating to the application of pesticides.

However, the Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Pesticides on Farms and Holdings, made jointly under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and Part III of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985, recommends that records of pesticide application should be kept for at least three years. The Code recommends that such records include details of date, types, quantity and location of pesticide application.
