§ Mr. McLoughlinMy Department has issued a consultation document on possible amendments to the law relating to transfer of title on the sale of goods, including the provisions in the Hire Purchase Act 1964 concerned with the sale of motor vehicles subject to a hire purchase or conditional sale agreement.

§ Mr. HeseltineRepresentatives of the industry have not had formal discussions with me on this subject. My last official meeting with the Retail Motor Industry Federation was in January 1993. A number of subsequent meetings with other Ministers and senior officials have taken place, on a range of issues, as part of the Governments continuing dialogue with leading representatives of the motor vehicle sector.
