HL Deb 26 May 1994 vol 555 c54WA
Lord Molloy

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What steps they are taking within the United Nations to secure the release of any remaining prisoners taken by Iraq from Kuwait during the Gulf War.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Employment (Lord Henley)

We raise the plight of Kuwaiti and other detainees at every suitable opportunity, for example when the Security Council last reviewed sanctions against Iraq on 17th May. We will continue to do so until Iraq complies with its Security Council obligations to co-operate with the International Committee of the Red Cross in its attempts to gather information on Kuwaiti and other nationals missing in Iraq.
