HC Deb 25 May 1994 vol 244 c177W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what assessment he has made of the level of provision made in Wales to assist those disabled by multiple sclerosis.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

The provision of assistance for people with a disability, including those with multiple sclerosis, is the responsibility of health authorities and local authorities.

Whilst separate analyses in relation to specific conditions are not regularly made locally, the arrangements for social care planning have identified the needs of all people with a disability. How these needs can best be met is set out in the social care plans for each county and the implications for the NHS are reflected in the local strategies for health produced by health authorities.
