§ Lord Dean of Beswickasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they will state on how many occasions in the last 50 years they have applied to the United States to extradite people to this country to face criminal or other charges and how many of these have been granted.
Earl FerrersExtradition procedures apply only to criminal matters. Records relating to the period before 1975 are not complete but, since 1944, the United Kingdom has made at least 122 applications to the United States of America for the extradition of persons wanted to face criminal charges here. In 78 of these cases—64 per cent. of the total—the application was granted or the fugitive was returned voluntarily.
