§ Sir John WheelerThese are operational matters which are the responsibility of the Chief Constable. However, I have been advised that there have been investigations into incidents involving stolen vehicles, vandalism and assault in the Carryduff area during the last six months. No persons have yet been charged and investigations are on-going.
Mr. John D. TaylorTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many homes at Carryduff, Castlereagh, were let or re-let by the Housing Executive during the most recent 12 months for which figures are available; and how many of these homes were allocated to families from west Belfast.
§ Mr. Tim SmithThis is a matter for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive; however, I am advised by its chief executive that from 1 May 1993 to 30 April 1994, there were 24 lettings/re-lettings of Housing Executive dwellings in the Carryduff area of Castlereagh. One of these was allocated to a family originally from West Belfast, but living in Lisburn in the five months immediately prior to the allocation.

The deployment of police is an operational matter for the Chief Constable of the Royal Ulster Constabulary. However, the Chief Constable has advised me that additional constables have been appointed to the local neighbourhood unit at Carryduff.
