§ Lord Morris of Castle Morrisasked Her Majesty's Government:
What diseases, in addition to pneumoconiosis, byssinosis and diffuse mesothelioma, render a person eligible for compensation under the Pneumoconiosis etc. (Workers' Compensation) Act 1979.
§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Employment (Lord Henley)Sufferers from the following asbestos-related diseases, or their dependants, may also be eligible for compensation under the Pneumoconiosis etc. (Workers' Compensation) Act 1979, providing the normal eligibility criteria are met:
- (a) bilateral diffuse pleural thickening;
- (b) primary carcinoma of the lung where there is evidence of asbestosis and/or bilateral diffuse pleural thickening.
