§ Mr. BrookeThe Government will continue to look at how best to take advantage of the opportunities this technology offers. Studies are continuing into the feasibility of launching an analogue Channel 5 without prejudicing the development of digital terrestrial television in the United Kingdom, and an announcement on this issue will be made before long. These studies are based on technical work which has recently become available. The relevant sentence in the "Competitiveness" White Paper is overtaken by this answer.
