To ask the Lord President of the Council which Government Departments or Offices other than the Department of National Heritage fund state ceremonial occasions.

I have been asked to reply.

In addition to my own Department the following Government Departments meet some of the costs of state ceremonial occasions:

  • Foreign and Commonwealth Office
  • Ministry of Defence
  • Home Office
  • Department of Transport
  • Scottish Office
  • Welsh Office
  • HM Treasury

The Parliamentary Works Directorate meets the costs of certain ceremonial events in the Palace of Westminster.
