HL Deb 19 May 1994 vol 555 c19WA
Lord Fanshawe of Richmond

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will assist the Bletchley Trust to safeguard for the nation the Bletchley Park site of the wartime code and cypher headquarters, now known as GCHQ.

The Earl of Arran

Bletchley Park is part-owned by the Government and part by British Telecom. My right honourable friend the Secretary of State for the Environment has made clear his support for a lasting reminder of the important wartime work carried out at the park. Both the Department and BT have been working with the Bletchley Park Trust to achieve this objective. The owners have jointly funded a feasibility study into creating a museum campus at Bletchley Park and have assisted the trust in opening some of the park buildings to the public.
