§ Mr. GoodladThe Portuguese Government have provided European Union partners with the text of the communiqué issued at the end of the latest round of talks with Indonesia on East Timor. The two sides have agreed on a number of confidence-building measures, including meetings with leading East Timorese supporters and opponents of integration, and a visit to East Timor in June by the special rapporteur of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. The UN Secretary-General has been asked to identify a series of issues for consideration by the Foreign Ministers of Portugal and Indonesia in advance of the next round of talks in January 1995, including possible avenues towards achieving a just, comprehensive and internationally acceptable solution.
