HL Deb 05 May 1994 vol 554 c72WA
Lord Mason of Barnsley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress is being made towards the merger of Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals; what is the proposed shareout of facilities and services; and what are the specific services to be shared; and

Whether the Trust formed for Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals is keeping them informed of developments; and whether they are satisfied with progress to date.

Baroness Cumberlege

The Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital Trust is drawing up detailed proposals for the future disposition of its services on both the Guy's and St. Thomas' sites. As part of this process Sir Tim Chessells, chairman of the London Implementation Group, is working closely with the trust and other key parties to prepare proposals for developing Guy's as the location for high quality local health services and a major academic centre. While this work is progressing satisfactorily, detailed proposals for the future location of services have not yet been finalised.
