HC Deb 04 May 1994 vol 242 cc556-7W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assessment he has made as to the effect of current sanctions in respect of medical supplies upon Libya in respect of(a) the poor and (b) women and children; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Goodlad

The supply of medical products is not prohibited under the current United Nations sanctions against Libya. As a matter of general principle, with which the United Kingdom agrees, the supply of medicines is exempt from the effects of all United Nations sanctions regimes.
