Standard Spending Assessments

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when he will publish his response to the Environment Committee's report on standard spending assessments.

Mr. Curry

My right hon. Friend has today laid before the House the Government's responses to the Environment Committee's first report on standard spending assessments. Copies of the response have been placed in the Library and the Vote Office.

The Environment Committee's recommendations will be reflected in the development work on SSAs which we will undertake in partnership with the local authority associations in 1994 and in the longer term.
