To ask the Secretary of State for Health what guidelines are in place on the training of general practitioners and nurses in cancer diagnosis.

Cancer is recognised as a major cause of morbidity and death. As such the diagnosis and treatment of the various forms of cancer figures prominently in the education and training at all stages of a doctor's career.

Nurses are not trained in the diagnosis of cancer which is a medical responsibility.
