HC Deb 29 March 1994 vol 240 c685W
Ms Primarolo

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will issue guidance on the time before a repeat cervical smear test is needed after a result which shows no endocervical cells.

Mr. Sackville

An absence of columnar glandular endocervical cells per se does not in itself constitute an indication for a repeat smear as the smear could be adequate in other respects. Where a patient's smear is shown by the laboratory to be unsatisfactory, she is invited to have a smear as soon as possible.
