To ask the President of the Board of Trade (1) what has been the total investment by British Coal over the most recent five-year period at those collieries and opencast sites currently in operation;

(2) what is the total value of capital allowances outstanding against corporation tax on British Coal in respect of assets of collieries and opencast sites currently in operation.
