HL Deb 28 March 1994 vol 553 c36WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is their response to the proposals for a complete ceasefire followed by dialogue, made in 1993 and repeated in March 1944 by the Kurdish Worker's Party (PKK) of Turkey, and whether they will use their good offices to achieve a permanent ceasefire and a constitutional agreement.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

It is for the Turkish Government, not Her Majesty's Government, to respond to these proposals. We shall continue to urge the Turkish Government to amend their constitution to permit non-violent expression of political opinions.
