HC Deb 28 March 1994 vol 240 c580W
17. Mr. Lester

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how much extra money the Government are spending each year on poorer pensioners, since the 1988 reforms.

Mr. Hague

The total extra help above the normal upratings that will be made available to pensioners on income-related benefits since 1988 will be worth around £1.2 billion in 1994–95.
